Trump’s 2025 Copper Mining Policy: Reshaping U.S. Mineral Strategy
March 13, 2025The Critical Minerals in the Northern Territory Guide has been updated for 2025, outlining the known resource inventory of the Territory’s critical minerals.
Critical minerals are needed to advance new and emerging technologies in areas such as medicine, defence, and the energy transition.
The Territory’s list of critical minerals are those minerals considered critical or strategic by Australia and/or key trading partners for which the Territory has defined mineral resources.
The 2025 edition outlines the Northern Territory’s list of 17 critical minerals, with emerging geological potential for another 13.
The document also includes detailed maps as well as investment and exploration information for both existing and developing projects.
The NT Government’s ongoing $9.5 million per annum Resourcing the Territory program provides exploration grants and free-of-charge, precompetitive geoscience data to stimulate, support and de-risk exploration investment.
As well as being a global leader in manganese production, the Territory has significant and growing project potential for commodities such as rare earths, graphite, phosphate and copper, and has built an impressive pipeline of emerging critical mineral opportunities.
The Northern Territory’s 17 critical minerals are: aluminium, cobalt, copper, lithium, gallium, graphite, magnesium, manganese, molybdenum, nickel, phosphate, rare earth elements, titanium, tungsten, vanadium, zinc and zirconium.
